Mental Health First Aid
In collaboration with a mental health professional, this workshop teaches tips and tools for navigating interactions with people experiencing mental health crises. This includes the principles of crisis work, peer support tenets, emotional regulation and de-escalation skills, how to safety plan, and role-playing to put those skills into practices.

Self Defense for Hospitality Workers
Offered in partnership with Ramy Daod of Phoenix Sports Empire, we explore effective self defense tactics for a variety of situations. Consent-based and designed for uneven power and strength dynamics, this course will teach you to protect yourself, evade harm, and even throw a solid punch.

Neurodivergent in the Workplace
This panel of women and nonbinary workers explored the reality of being neurodivergent and working in the bar and restaurant industry. Panelists shared their lived experiences and tips for navigating communication, power dynamics, and expectations as neurodivergent workers. We’ve turned the material into a workshop. Gain an overview of how neurodivergent folks experience restaurants and learn practical steps on how your establishment can better support them.

Labor x Immigration Know Your Rights
CHAAD, GLOW, and Illinois Workers in Action offered a crossover training on labor and immigration rights as they apply to hospitality workers. This training covered basics of sick pay, wage law, discrimination, sexual harassment, as well as how to protect undocumented workers if ICE shows up at your workplace.

Workplace Organizer Training
CHAAD trains workers interested in becoming organizers on the ins and outs of building power, documenting organizing efforts, communication with management, and reasons for organizing, all through a trauma-informed lens.

How to be a better manager
Every manager deserves the right tools before stepping into leadership. This workshop is a practical guide for restaurant leaders to break away from outdated industry norms and build a workplace rooted in respect, clear communication, and genuine support. By exploring traditional leadership models and the worker experiences shaped by them, we’ll identify key challenges and actionable strategies to create a healthier, more sustainable restaurant culture that strengthens team morale and improves retention.

Getting Out of the Weeds Workshops
This workshop series was designed to support hospitality workers during the pandemic, addressing stress, mental wellness, and instability during a global health crisis that irrevocably impacted the industry that provided their livelihoods.
Topics included identity, navigating microaggressions, stress + resilience, boundary-setting, substance use and abuse, balancing time, money + energy, and more.

Narcan Training
In partnership with Recovery Now, we offer practical training for how to understand symptoms of an overdose, administer Narcan, and scripts for calling 911 and reducing harm for users. Participants leave with Narcan and fentanyl testing strips.
